Everything buyers ask us, answered straight

A pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is a professional evaluation of a used vehicle's observed condition performed before you buy it. A trained inspector examines the body, mechanical systems, electronics, and interior, runs an OBD diagnostic scan, and road tests the vehicle where permitted — then documents everything in a photo-backed report. See everything we inspect.
Most expensive problems don't announce themselves on a ten-minute drive: worn brakes, aging tires, hidden accident repairs, rust, slow leaks, and pending fault codes are all easy to miss. An inspection typically costs a fraction of one surprise repair, and even on a good car the findings often pay for the inspection in negotiation leverage.
Yes — we're fully mobile. We inspect at private homes, dealerships, auction facilities, and storage locations throughout the Tri-State Area (New Jersey, New York & Pennsylvania). Travel within our service area is included in the flat rate. See our service area.
Either of us — your choice. Many customers prefer that we contact the seller or dealership directly to arrange access; just give us their contact info in the request form and we'll handle scheduling.
Someone needs to provide access to the vehicle and keys — usually the seller or a dealership representative. You, the buyer, do not need to be there at all.
Yes, and we do it constantly. Reputable dealerships routinely accommodate independent inspections. If a dealer refuses to allow one, treat that as useful information.
Yes, subject to the auction's access rules. Road tests usually aren't possible and some vehicles can't be started, so we document what can be verified and are upfront about the limits. Details on our auction inspections page.
That's one of our most common jobs. If the vehicle is located in the Tri-State Area (New Jersey, New York & Pennsylvania), we inspect it for you and email the report wherever you are. Start with our remote buyers page.
We recommend 24–48 hours notice; same-day requests are often possible. If you're up against an auction date, a deposit deadline, or travel plans, tell us in the request form — we prioritize time-sensitive purchases and offer a Same-Day Report Guarantee add-on.
Reports are typically delivered by email within 24 hours — often the same day.
Yes, whenever it's safe, legal, and permitted by the seller or facility. If a road test isn't possible (common at auctions), we note that in the report and evaluate everything that can be verified stationary.
We can't inspect without the seller's cooperation — and you should weigh a refusal heavily. Honest sellers rarely object to an independent look at a car they've described accurately. If a seller refuses, we're happy to talk through your options before you walk away or proceed.
Yes. Every car inspection includes an OBD-II scan; stored and pending codes are listed in your report in plain English, along with what they typically mean.
We identify indicators of prior repairs and accidents — panel-gap irregularities, resprays, overspray, replaced fasteners, structural clues — and our paint-depth mapping add-on makes hidden bodywork much harder to conceal. No inspection can guarantee detection of every well-hidden repair, and we won't pretend otherwise.
A CARFAX vehicle history report is available as a $29.99 add-on. History reports are useful context, but they only contain what was reported — they never replace a physical inspection.
We'll give you an honest, independent assessment of its observed condition, rank every finding by severity, and flag what deserves quotes or seller questions. The final decision is yours — it depends on price, your budget, and your tolerance for the findings — but our verbal walkthrough add-on is popular with buyers who want to talk it through.
No. The report documents the vehicle's observed condition at the time of inspection; it is visual and non-invasive, and components can fail afterward. It is not a warranty. Anyone who guarantees a used car sight-unseen future is selling you something. Full details: inspection disclaimer.
Absolutely. A pre-listing report builds buyer confidence, cuts repetitive questions, and helps reach remote buyers. See seller inspections.
Sedans, SUVs, trucks, and vans; luxury, exotic, and performance vehicles; classics and vintage vehicles; motorcycles; RVs and motorhomes; and commercial or fleet vehicles. Specialty vehicles are scoped and quoted individually — see packages & pricing.
Your contact info, the vehicle (a listing URL is perfect), where it's located, and when you need it done. The request form walks you through it in about two minutes — and you can start with just the listing link.
Car deals fall through — we get it. Contact us as soon as plans change and we'll reschedule or cancel your appointment; we'll confirm any applicable policy details when your inspection is booked. The fastest way to reach us is a call or text to (732) 466-8996.
